Isela Leal was born in Mexico. She graduated from the Universidad Metropolitana, in Mexico City, in 1980, with a degree in Architecture. She is a member of the School of Architects of Mexico.

For 15 year she worked as an architect in design, project and construction. In parallel to her professional activity in Mexico she performed different workshops in photography, drawing, and architectonic models.

Isela moved to Venezuela in 1994 and lived there for 6 years. In Caracas she started exploring her artistic skills. She studied theory of art, history and appreciation of art, study of the human figure, drawing, and sculpture at the Institute of Art Federico Brant for 3 years. She participated in diverse workshops at Cristobal Rojas Art School and at The Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2000, Isela moved to Costa Rica and continued improving her work and exploring art.

Since 2003 she has been living and working in Cincinnati OH, with her art work, participating in Art exhibitions and teaching sculpture workshops.

Her artwork is permanently exhibited at the Gallery Art on the Levee at Newport on the Levee, KY or at Gallery 42 at Mason, OH.
